What a wonderful roundup of where to stay in Siem Reap. There are so many places to choose from, way too many!
Baby Elephant is such a great name and looks gorgeous for those on medium to tight budget. But Temptation Angkor is my pick if the wallet will allow. Sustainable and gorgeous <3
Jennifer Joslin says
Thanks, Sara! There are SO many places. We’ve stayed in many different spots but these were definitely the best in each budget category! We love Baby Elephant and Templation 😍
Archana Singh says
I love Cambodia and Siem Reap is such a cool place to spend a few days. While I stayed at a different place than the ones mentioned by you, I am intrigued to find out more about Templation Angkor for my next year’s trip.
Jennifer Joslin says
Templation is one of our favorite hotels we’ve EVER been to! It is such a beautiful property and the location is perfect 🙂
Lisa says
Oooh rooftop bar WITH sand! Sounds awesome – I’d have to check Mad Monkey Siem Reap Hostel out 😊 However I’m a sucker for hotels, so Templation Angkor looks incredible 😍
Jennifer Joslin says
If you’re looking for inexpensive accommodation close to Pub Street and the Night Market, then Mad Monkey is a great option! That rooftop bar with sand is a lot of fun, and they have a good pool too 🙂 Templation is amazing!! Absolutely worth staying there if it’s in the budget.

What a great selection of choices in Siem Reap. I love the sound of Baby Elephant..the pool, exercise area, and even the breakfast. Great tips for what to do in the area. We enjoyed biking around the temples, though from your list, there is much more we could have done. The circus and other lesser known visits to temples will be on our list for our next visit. Great article.
Jennifer Joslin says
Thanks, Rosemary! I hope you can make it back soon. We have been to Siem Reap countless times and always find different things to do there. There is so much more to do in the province than just the temples (though they are incredible!). Phare the Cambodian Circus is my second top recommendation. Such a fabulous and moving show!
Medha Verma says
Given how inexpensive SE Asia is, I usually prefer to shell out a little extra money and pamper myself with a luxury stay. Siem Reap also looks like the sort of place where I can indulge myself in some affordable luxury. Looking at Baby Elephant Hotel, I can safely say it would be my pick, the hotel looks great and paying that amount of money for such a fantastic property wouldn’t hurt me at all!
Jennifer Joslin says
Absolutely agree, Medha! There is great value for money in Southeast Asia. We LOVE Baby Elephant! Their amenities are lovely, they have delicious food, and the owners and staff are wonderful. Can’t recommend them enough!
Shruti Prabhu says
Excellent compilation! Love that you’ve catered to all budget types and the fact that you’ve personally experienced these places makes it all the more trustworthy. We prefer boutique luxury accommodation during our travels. Cambodia is on our bucket list and now we have a couple of recommended places to stay, thanks to you!
Jennifer Joslin says
Thanks, Shruti! Happy we could help! We also chose these places because several of them are involved in the local community and projects that give back. Specifically Mad Monkey, Baby Elephant, and Templation.
Christina says
What a fabulous collection of value-for-money resorts and hotels in Siem Reap. Rambutan looks like it’s comfortable and well priced. Villa Ni Say looks very contemporary chic. It’s good to know there’s such a big range of hotels.
Jennifer Joslin says
There are so many (too many!) options for where to stay in Siem Reap. Rambutan is a beautiful hotel. We didn’t stay there ourselves, but our friends who got married in Siem Reap and a lot of their guests stayed there and loved it. They threw a pool party there a couple of days after the wedding, so we spent the day on the property and got to see the rooms. Gorgeous place! Don’t get me started on Villa Ni Say. It’s incredible!! 😍
Anda says
I’m glad I came across your post. Seeing the temples of Angkor Wat is one of my dreams. Is Siem Reap is the closest town to the temples? If so, it’s good to know there are so many lodging options there. Hotels seem kind of expensive though.
Jennifer Joslin says
Hi Anda! Yes, Siem Reap is the closest town to the temples. From most hotels, it takes 30 minutes or less to reach Angkor Wat by tuk-tuk. Hostels like the ones we recommended start as low as $4USD, and there are luxury resorts for over $1,000USD per night! Just depends what you are looking for.
Kathleen says
Those are some really great choices. I’ve never stayed in a hostel, but the ones you talk about don’t sound as scary as my mind makes them to be. If you had a bunch of friends, Villa Ni Say sounds like a fun choice. Now to just get to Cambodia. Funny, we were just talking about that last night.
Jennifer Joslin says
If we are traveling individually we often opt for hostels as they are great places to meet people. We also sometimes book private rooms in hostels. There are some really great hostel options in Siem Reap, like the three we mentioned, that are very clean and nice. Villa ni Say is a gorgeous property!
Sally Akins says
You’ve got something to suit all budgets and tastes in this post! I think I’d go for either Templation Angkor or the Baby Elephant boutique hotel. It looks gorgeous, and I love that the owners are active in the community.
Jennifer Joslin says
We LOVE Baby Elephant Boutique Hotel. The owners and staff there are great people!
Riana Ang-Canning says
Ah, I wish we had seen this before we booked our hotel in Siem Reap! But will have to check out your restaurant recommendations. We’re going in January and I can’t wait!
